Sioux Center Christian pilots clinic option

A partnership between Sioux Center Health and Sioux Center Christian School could lead to new opportunities for area businesses.

The two entities created a satellite clinic partnership this fall that allows Christian school students and employees to have same-day virtual doctor visits if a visit is recommended by school nurse Stacy Schaap.

“This has been such a blessing to our school,” Schaap said, noting she’s been able to assist with five virtual visits since all the pieces were in place at the beginning of October. “Parents seem excited about opportunity to have provider access for their child.”

The partnership idea developed after the school’s administration connected with various Christian schools across the county this summer to determine the school’s COVID-19 response. One school had mentioned setting up a satellite clinic.

“That idea struck me as something that could really be beneficial, not just now with COVID but in the longterm for our school as another service we can provide our families,” said head of school Josh Bowar. “The satellite clinic option seemed like another level of how we can partner with parents.

“And we’re a school that’s up for trying things. If we could see how this goes and make adjustments to make it something that’s helpful for others and businesses, why not?”
