This session was a discussion on the implementation and benefits of telehealth solutions in the workplace, particularly focusing on the experiences of Ochsner Health System. The talk covered the importance of telehealth in the current COVID-19 pandemic situation, the strategies for integrating telehealth into existing health systems, and the benefits to both employers and employees.
Key takeaways:
  • Telehealth solutions are increasingly important in the current pandemic situation, enabling safe and efficient healthcare delivery.
  • Ochsner Health System has successfully implemented TytoCare’s telehealth solutions, with positive feedback from both providers and patients.
  • The integration of telehealth solutions into existing health systems can be a complex process, but is achievable with careful planning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Telehealth can provide significant cost savings for employers, while also improving the accessibility and convenience of healthcare for employees.
  • There are still challenges to overcome in telehealth implementation, including regulatory issues, technological barriers, and provider and patient acceptance.

TytoCare’s Virtual Employer Clinic is a cost-effective solution for employers and healthcare providers to effectively address employees’ health needs during the pandemic

TytoCare’s Virtual Employer Clinic has been highlighted as a practical, cost-effective solution for employers and healthcare providers seeking to cater to employees’ health needs during the pandemic. This innovative solution entails a one-time equipment investment, after which employers have the option to subsidize or pass on the $10 per visit fee to their employees.
“The sell of the actual virtual employer clinic is very full,” said Ryan Patterson, director of consumer telehealth at Ochsner. “And we’ve been able to rapidly expand…a low-cost solution, pretty easy entry into the market.” Shriya Palakar, Director of Enterprise Solutions at TytoCare, echoed Patterson’s sentiments, noting that the company’s strategy has been successful across health systems, health plans, and on-site clinic distributors.

We’re based in New Orleans, and we have, you know, hospital sites, ambulatory sites, and now even employer sites throughout the Gulf Coast region.

Takeaway 2: TytoCare technology provides comprehensive telehealth solutions, from urgent care to specialty consults

TytoCare technology offers comprehensive telehealth solutions. It goes above and beyond simple audio-visual communication, enabling real-time telehealth exams and forward examinations. The platform’s user-friendly software and guidance functions make it accessible to non-clinically trained individuals, making it a suitable choice for both employer sites and home use.
“The Tyto Clinic is what is usually put directly into the employer sites… Everything custom immediately fits directly into that drawer,” said David, the Head of Enterprise Solutions at TytoCare. Ryan Patterson added, “We try to get everyone enrolled… we go and do an actual, like, event at each employer site, get everyone to make their Tyto accounts and get them completely enrolled.”

We’re able to keep it in house. We don’t have to have additional resources on our team, from an IT or installation standpoint.

Takeaway 3: The adoption of telehealth services has increased significantly during the COVID-19 pandemic

The adoption of telehealth services has significantly increased during the COVID-19 pandemic. Telehealth’s ability to offer a safe, efficient, and cost-effective alternative to in-person visits has been instrumental in its rapid adoption. Ochsner Health System’s telehealth program, for instance, saw an increase from 556 direct-to-consumer visits in March 2020 to over 200,000 visits in July 2020.
Ryan Patterson from Ochsner noted, “In March of twenty-twenty, we have five hundred and fifty-six direct-to-consumer visits as an organization… In July, we hit over two hundred thousand direct-to-consumer visits.” He continued, “We have a three hundred and fifty percent increase in June for the virtual employer clinics… Employer sales are completely expanding.”
